Scope and content

The poster shows how the population affects employment and life. The section on "employment" demonstrates that employment arrangement is a difficult task given the large population. Moreover, it uses the graph to compare China's total arable land versus arable land per person with India, the US, and the Soviet Union, to demonstrate that China has a large population with limited arable land. In the "life" section, it uses a bar graph to compare the increase in the total consumption level and personal consumption level between 1953 and 1978, with an image of a couple buying a television and a man in an army outfit buying a radio from a store. In addition, there is a line graph that compares grain yield per capita in China, France, and the US between 1950 and 1980; and another one that compares national income per capita in China, Japan, and the US between 1950 and 1979.
