Yang Gensi (杨根思) was made a Hero Special Class of the Chinese People's Volunteers for his heroic actions during the Korean War. His unit came under attack by an American machine gun nest. Carrying a satchel charge, Yang threw himself into the nest, killing 40 enemy troops, but losing his own life.
