1. A Polytechnic Harriers group after winning the Birmingham "Outer", a 25 mile walking race for the H.J. Hill Shield on the 11th July 1953. P. Reading, W. Wardman, C. Turbayne, A. Sharp, L. Fairman, P. Price, V. Stone and F. Bailey can all be seen in the picture. Frank Bailey finished first with a time of 3 hours, 45 minutes and 58 seconds. The Polytechnic Magazine covered the event in their August 1953 edition, page 222.
