2. J.H. Wood on the tenth stage of the London to Brighton road race, near Pyecombe, on the 16th April 1955. The race was won by the South London Harriers with a time of 4 hours, 29 minutes and 19 seconds. Athletics Weekly covered the race in their 23rd April 1955 edition, page 13.
