E C Horton, Surrey Walking Club, can be seen, as well as T Payne, North Shields Poly, F T Lock, Ashcombe A C, and H V L Ross, Herne Hill Harriers. H V L Ross won, E C Horton, Surrey W C, came 2nd and E Parslow, Surrey Walking Club, came third.140x190mm.

The motor bus in the background has a banner with ‘POLYTECHNIC ECCENTRIC CLUB, BRIGHTON WALK’ AND 'CHALK FARM GARAGE' printed on it. 140x190mm. Food was served from the motor bus. The Eccentric Club are thanked in the Polytechnic Magazine for providing funds and the ‘beds and bedding’ used in the Polytechnic’s Fyvie Hall that had been commandeered for the athletes.
