Scope and content

1. Photograph of Harold George Tombleson, Polytechnic Harriers, in military uniform. Tombleson was the son of Mr W M Tombleson, AKA 'Pa' and Mrs C A Tombleson, of 87 Devonport Road, Uxbridge Road, London. Tombleson volunteered immediately on the outbreak of WW1 for military service on 4 August 1914. He was mobilized as (1109) trumpeter, 14th Battery, RFA, 5th City of London Brigade, 2nd London Division. Royal Field Artillery 122 Battery, 52 Brigade. Tombleson was killed in action on 28 August 1918 while serving with the Royal Field Artillery and is buried in Mouchy British Cemetery, Mouchy – Le – Preux, grave 11.D.19 (CWWG). 135x85mm. Tombleson is also included on the war memorial in 309 Regent Street and on the war memorial at Liberty’s Department Store, London.
