Piece HOG/3/5/4 - Quintin Hogg's residence at 5 Cavendish Square W1

Manuscript notes on Quintin Hogg's residence at 5 Cavendish Square, London W1. 'The rate books have now been checked by the Archivist of the Borough of St Marylebone and according to these Quintin Hogg paid the rates of 5 Cavendish Square from 1886 to 1898. The previous year they were paid by the Secretary, The Polytechnic Institution. This corroborates the dates given in the letter of the Chairman of the Polytechnic Governing Body, for Q.H.'s residence 1885-1898 as we know Q.H. did not move into 5 Cavendish Square until the autumn, when the rates for the second half year had already been paid. We have one dated 1st January 1886 written from 5 Cavendish Square.'

Additional manuscript notes written on text, in different pen: 'As additional evidence we have in our collection of correspondence by Quintin Hogg letters dated from 5 Cavendish Square.'
