Addressed from 'The Polytechnic' and to 'my dear - -'. The letter discusses the size of Poly membership and what it means to be a Poly boy, the idea of the Poly as a second home and his hopes for the Poly, the trouble the English have in expressing their feelings, New Year's Resolutions, and invites the recipient to a Service. The letter also entions an enclosed card 'bearing a word of Godspeed for the coming year' [missing]. The number '3000' is written in pencil in the top-hand corner in pencil.
Attached to the letter is a note regarding the card which the manufacturers have not yet finished and will be forwarded on in a day or two.
There are two copies of this letter. One has '3000' written in the top left-hand corner in pencil and seems to be the original. The other is a printed facsimile of handwritten letter sent by Hogg to Institute members. The former also has a note inside regarding the card which the manafacturers have not yet finished and will be forwarded on in a day or two. The latter is annotated in pencil 'Q.H.'s last letter'.
