Contents of a file labelled 'Gaskell, G.P (Art)'.
Includes a handwritten biography of G Percival Gaskell; correspondence between Mr Gaskell and Major Mitchell regarding the appointment, re-arrangement and salaries of staff in the School of Art, especially with relation to war bonuses after WW1; letters regarding the death of Mr Gaskell's wife; Mr Gaskell's retirement and calculation of his pension.
The rear half of the file contains papers regarding the Polytechnic's application to the London County Council for an increased grant to cover the Schools of Art, Architecture, Carriage Building, Engineering and Photography. The papers include lists of staff, statistics of student numbers and a a typescript copy of the 1906-7 annual report with detailed reports on all the schools. There are also papers regarding electricity and boiler inspections; copy correspondence in 1912 with Buckingham Palace requesting royal patronage of the institution.
