Agreement for tenancy of the Polytechnic Theatre 307 Regent Street from Sir Kynaston Studd to Joseph Brooke Wilkinson.
Includes stipulation that the tenant can use the Hall between the hours of 2pm and 11pm except for Sundays, Christmas Days and Good Friday for the purposes of 'conducting cinematograph [cinema] exhibitions, dramatic performances and other entertainment' and allows for special matinees by arrangement. The rent is to be: the first £50 in weekly receipts paid as minimum rent, the next £250 to be allowed ot the tenant for expenditure, the balance of weekly takings up to be £135 to be divided and paid as 75% to the Landlord and 25% to the tenant, the balance of weekly taking above £435 to be paid as 20% to the Landlord and 80% to the tenant. The tenant is not to give any performance derogatory to the work of the Polytechnic. The first year of this contract is to be subject to contracts already entered into with the Church Missionary Society and Burns Scott Films Ltd. The Polytechnic has use of the theatre for 3 weeks each year. All plays shall be submitted to the Landlord at least 7 days in advance. The tenant shall provide an orchectra if necessary. Includes regulations with regards to copyright music.
Includes a letter from Wilkinson to [Leonard] Harris confirming the arrangements for dividing the profits including the sale of programmes, reprints, refreshments, chocolate, cigarettes and cloakroom receipts.
