Scope and content

Colour postcard of a watercolour drawing of a lake, with cottage and boathouse and an island; in the background are mountains. Signed L.M. Long. Polytechnic Series. Used.

Inscribed on verso: 'Mon evening. Went up the Rigi by mountain rail today and walked part of the way down, a very nice excursion. There were lovely flowers: gentian, wild white and blue crocuses, oxslips and kingcups. We are going Andermatt tomorrow and probably up Pilatus on Thursday. There is still some snow but most of the mountain railways opened for Easter. I shall get nearly as much climbing as I hoped as the Polytechnic did arrange for slip climbing. Will post Andermatt tomorrow. Love from M.'
Addressed to Mrs Moody, Stapleton Manor, Martock, Somerset, England. Stamped and postmarked 25 April 1911.
