1. Photograph of King George V and Queen Mary. The King is on his way to the start line to start the Poly Marathon of 1921. 2. Photograph of the start of the Marathon. Visible in the image is King George V with a pistol aimed at the sky, judging by the moving athletes one can assume that he has fired it to indicate the beginning of the Poly Marathon of 1921.
