Academic mortarboard made from a horizontal square board which is covered in felt and fixed upon a skull-cap which is also made from reinforced felt which is ridged. The skull-cap comes down to a point at the front and is trimmed with grosgrain ribbon. At the reverse of the helmet there is a v shaped split, about 4cm in depth and above this there is a small strap and popper to hold equipment in place.
