              Double breasted fireman's half coat - 火消半纏 Hikeshi-Hanten - made of black cotton in a double-layered sashiko technique - 二重刺子 Futae-Sashiko - with rectangular unshaped sleeves, two pockets and a short back vent. It fastens with ten brass buttons in two rows down the front and a heavy metal hook and eye at the collar - one button has detached. The hem, front edges and armholes are bound in black binding. The sashiko technique has been used to stitch wide red stripes over the shoulders and sleeves, two wide white stripes around the bottom of the coat at thigh level, two rows of Japanese characters down the centre front and a circle containing a character on the back in white. Inside the coat is an abstract pattern of curves and a character in white using sashiko stitching.

              Silver 'Metal Mic' fabric coat with navy blue corduroy collar and separate belt. It fastens centre front with press studs and a flap with four large metal carabiner clips. It has two patch pockets on front below waist with flaps, vent at centre back with one press stud fastening.

              Liner made of cream coated polyester cotton, with areas of brown discolouration, no collar and bound edges around the collar, fronts and hem. To be worn with jacket 2016.185.1 and trousers 2016.185.2. It has snap fasteners down each side to attach to the jacket. It is lined in blue fabric machine quilted in an ellipse pattern in white thread. The cuffs are finished on the inside with a narrow black loop tape to attach to the jacket. There are second mitten cuffs of knitted light yellow fabric with a large thumb opening.

              Jacket made of aluminised Kevlar. It has a high stand collar that fastens across the neck from right to left with a wide tab and black hook and loop patches. It fastens centre front with a heavy metal zip and a wide placket over the length of the zip and a long black hook and loop tape. The jacket has narrow adjustment tabs to each side at the hips. The inside cuffs have a narrow black hook tape on the inside edge and a snap fastener to attach the jacket liner. The inside of the jacket is made of a light brown loop fabric with a vertical stripe in light yellow thread, there are snap fasteners to the inside zip placket to attach the liner.

              Pair of faded black cotton trousers with vertical red and white stripes down each outside leg . The stripes have been created by sashiko stitching with three lines of red stitching flanked by one line of white stitching on each side. They have belt loops and a separate black waist tie. They fasten with a metal zip fly with 'YZIP' engraved on the tab and a metal hook and bar fastening with 'DEPONIRT' on the bar and 'TRADE MARK' and a three pointed crown on the hook. There are two front side hip pockets with vertical openings. Designed to be worn by firemen for fire fighting, mid twentieth century (Showa period). Designer unknown
