Scope and content

15 strings of copper is a traditional Chinese folk story, featuring a butcher named You Hulu, who borrowed 15 strings of copper. That night, Lou A’shu snuck into You Hulu's house and stole 15 strings of copper in order to pay off his gambling debts. He then killed You Hulu, and the next day reported the death to magistrates. You Hulu's stepdaughter Su Xujuan had run away in the night because You Hulu had joked he had sold her for the 15 strings of copper. Su Xujuan was almost executed for You's murder before the true culprit, Lou A'shu was finally caught.
