Administrative history
Bukta was founded as E.R. Buck & Sons by Edward Robinson Buck in 1879, Stockport, Greater Manchester. They were making football kit by at least 1884 when the Nottingham Forest team were photographed wearing Bukta. They became a leading producer of tents, camping equipment and uniforms for the Scout movement along with sportswear. The family sold the company in 1982 and in 2005 the label was relaunched.

Scope and content
High waist shorts in dark blue wool. Shorts fasten at the centre front fly with four plastic buttons on a concealed button placket. Four large loops can be found at the waist to enable a belt to be worn. Two pleats run down from the waist band at the front on either side of the fly. At the waist there are slanted pockets on either side. The shorts are unlined apart from a band of cream cotton to the inside waistband. The inside hem of each leg has probably been altered and has been stitched up by hand.

Note
Identical Trekker Shorts feature in the first edition of Scoutanica, a catalogue of scouting uniforms and equipment which was published by Bukta, about 1952-1966.
Berets feature alongside these shorts and were only introduced into Scouting uniforms in 1952. The catalogue cannot be from after 1966 as it features uniforms for the 'Wolf Cubs,' the junior members of the Scouts. This section was renamed the Cubs in 1966, with further changes to Scout uniforms also brought in after this time.
