Administrative history

Avant-garde shoe designer John Moore studied at Cordwainers in London and graduated in 1984. In 1986 he opened House of Beauty and Culture in London's Hackney, which brought together designers Richard Torry, Christopher Nemeth with stylist and jeweller Judy Blame and furniture designers Frick and Frack. Moore died suddenly in 1989.

Black leather shoes with applique toe detail, a common feature on John Moore shoe designs. There is a Y shaped quarter, which grows from the sole, into the front and forms the shoe lace holes. Without laces. Designed and made in England.

      Purchased by donor from a store in the basement of the Trocadero, Piccadilly in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The store sold old stock from designers such as John Moore and Rachel Auburn. He also bought some Patrick Cox for John Galliano white patent shoes from there.
