            Hooded surplice or tunic made from white cotton. Garment is ankle length with wide, three quarter length sleeves with large hems. Pulling on over the head, the surplice has a deep v neck that fastens with a single, fabric covered button on a banded collar. Gathering detail runs under the collar seam and along the shoulder seams, both front and back. Attached to the collar is a pointed hood that drapes down the back of the garment. At either side of the waist there are welted vents which enable access to pockets in garments worn underneath the surplice. J. Wippell & Co Ltd

            Single breasted long wool tweed coat. The tweed is in a black and white twill pattern with a double line of vertical fine red stripes and a horizontal double line of blue stripes. It has a curved collar and wide long lapel and fastens with three buttons. There are tabs on each cuff which fasten with buttons and a deep centre back vent. It is lined in dark red rayon with a large Aquascutum label at the back of the neck with 'By Appointment to the Prince of Wales 1930-1936'. Aquascutum

            Charcoal grey double breasted coat with large turn back cuffs. Two pockets at hips with deep flaps and vent in centre back which can be fastened with one button. Lined in black rayon quilted in a diamond pattern.

            Grey Burton double breasted belted coat with six plastic buttons and two front welt pockets that allow access to both internal pocket and wearer's own pockets. There is a two piece collar with zig zag stitch detailing and the whole body has top stitching. The shoulders are heavily padded and the two piece sleeves have a seam running down the centre. There is a single back vent with closure button. It is fully lined with quilted top half and loose lining at the hem. There is loose canvas along the button hole.

            Gieves Cotton Flying Helmet

            Flying helmet made from a cream cotton / canvas fabric. Helmet is shaped around the face and has a chin strap with a buckle fastening. A further two buckles can be found on the crown of the head and there is a flap with a three popper fastening over each ear to allow communications equipment to be worn. There is padding underneath these flaps and the helmet is still fitted with the original gosport tubes receiver [communications equipment ear pieces] at the ears [the tubes are missing].             Flying helmet made from a soft, brown, chrome leather. Helmet is shaped around the face, sitting just above the eyebrows and covers the ears. There is a chin strap with a metal buckle fastening and a three-popper flap over each ear to allow the wearing of communications equipment. At the reverse of the helmet there is a small strap and popper to hold equipment in place. The inside of the helmet is lined in a dark cream / light brown chamois fabric. D. Lewis Ltd

            Brown leather belt with a cross body, supporting strap that passes over the right shoulder. The belt is adjustable, with a large, brass buckle with two prongs that fastens the belt around the waist. A belt loop and stud then holds the strap in place. There is a brass hook and three 'D Rings' on the belt which can be used for attaching equipment [such as 2022.36.12]. A thinner strap, adjustable by a buckle, is attached to the top of the belt and is worn diagonally across the body. British Army

            Black coated waterproof cycling cape with brush painted sealed seams. The cape is shaped at the shoulders, with the front body larger than the back so the seam sits underneath when laid flat. The centre front closes with two silver Newey Brothers press studs, and secures with a strap and buckle. The collar is lined with velvet. The front has a cotton tie on each side, attached to a small circle, and sewn to the front in a circle of stitching. There is a third tie stitched to the centre back which ties between the legs to the front to secure the cape. The hem is curved and finished with a double turn and top stitch.             Black coated waterproof cycling trousers. The centre front ties closed with a length of cotton tape, and the fly closes with a single button through to the outside in the centre. There is a second layer of fabric stitched to strengthen the crotch area which extends to the knee on centre front. Made in Scotland. Vinco 27
