Photographs of public lecture and replica of Sir George Cayley's Riding Rudder glider, which was used to prepare for the first manned flight in 1853, suspended in Regent Street. The University hosted the display and public lecture on the Inventor, who founded the Royal Polytechnic Institution in 1838. The lecture was delivered by Dr Peter Jakab of the US National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC.
