Photograph of the 'emblemetical car' described in the Polytechnic magazine as 'emblematic of the various branches of education, in which the Poly has taken an active part in preparing London's sons and daughters to take their places as efficient units in the world's work'. The car included representations of Science, Art, Commerce and Literature and was followed by students of the Polytechnic who gained medals and distinctions via the City and Guilds of London Institute.
