Scope and content

Photograph of the chalets and surrounding taken from the air by Swissair Luftbild. Printed by O Wyrsch, Wabern, Bern. Used.

Inscribed on reverse: 'Polytechnic chalets, Seeburg, Lucerne, Sun night. Dear father, we arrived safely here up to time. It was very tiring travelling in the night. We had no trouble with customs at all. The crossing on the boat was lovely, just a slight swell. Violet felt a bit sick but soon recovered. We are in the chalet on the extreme right of the PC. It is the oldest and was originally used for pilgrims going to Rome. We are going the three passes trip tomorrow and have to be up for 7am breakfast so we all have to get to bed early. Love Lucie'. Addressed to Mr A Baldwin, 4 Sprign Bank, Barrowford, Nr Nelson, Lancashire, England. Postmarked 12 July 1937, with a Swiss stamp.
