Silk waistcoat with a shawl collar. Waistcoat is double breasted and fastens at the front via four black, glass buttons two on each side. Each button is functional and fastens through a buttonhole on the opposing side of the waistcoat opening. The black silk used at the front of the waistcoat has a vertical stripe patterned stitched into it, also in black. The repeating pattern consists of a 3mm pinstripe, followed by three lines of thinner, broken stipes [each line that makes up these broken stripes is 0.5cm in length], followed by another 3mm pinstripe. The reverse of the waistcoat is made from plain, black silk. On the reverse, there are two long tabs at the waist made in the same fabric for adjustment using an ornately designed metal buckle. The inside of the waistcoat is lined in cotton. The hemline of the waistcoat is lower at the front than at the back. The front hem is slightly rounded. There are two small vents at each side hem. Double breasted uniform jacket made to a regulation Merchant Navy pattern. Jacket is fastened by two rows of four gilt buttons bearing the emblem of the Merchant Navy; has jetted pockets at the waist; and a breast pocket on the left side. Above this pocket is a ribbon bar, displaying the ribbons of medals that have been awarded. Handstitched to each cuff is the insignia of a Merchant Navy Captain, four rings of gold wire lace, with the central two rings crossed to form a diamond shape. Rugby shirt with a white, cotton drill collar, ribbed cuffs, and a four-button fastening to the front. The shirt has a 14cm wide, horizontal stripe design in navy and mustard; and a faded cotton poplin patch displaying the letter N stitched to the back of the shirt. Long striped cotton jersey rugby top with white cotton woven collar and wide ribbed cuffs. The hoop stripes are horizontal wide dark blue or purple with narrow yellow gold stripes. The turn down collar is doubled cotton twill an the neck opening is reinforced with a wide light grey twill cotton tape. It fastens with three white cotton washing buttons. Knitted woollen jumper in a brightly coloured design, Jumper has a ribbed neckline, hem and cuffs, each with two horizontal bands, one in a pale blue and a royal blue. The top half of the jumper is made up of horizontal stripes in pale blue, green and orange. This stripe design extends to the top half of the sleeves. The remainder of the body and arms are comprised of vertical striped panels of differing size in orange; pale and bright green; and pale and bright blue. These panels use varying types of cable stitching. The stripe design is the same, front and back. However on the front there is a rectangular panel in brown wool with the words 'Straight is Great' embroidered into the jumper in yellow wool. Around this is an intricate, embroidered floral design. Knitted shorts in blue wool. Shorts have an elasticated waistband and angled pockets at the waist, just in front of the side seam. The shorts are knitted in a repeating cable knit pattern, with the exception of the waistband and pockets which are in a more basic, ribbed pattern. Naturally aged, straight leg jeans in a mid blue colour with contrast stitching. The jeans have five pockets; two curved pockets at the front, with a small coin pocket inside the right pocket; and two pockets at the back. The pockets have been secured with brass rivets. Uniform trousers in a lightweight wool mix. Trousers fasten at the front with a zip fly leading to a hook and bar at the waistband. Two slanted pockets sit at hip level at either side. The trousers do not have belt loops or back pockets. There is a crease running up each leg at the front and there is a dart on either side of the centre back seam. The trousers are unlined and a Blue prison logo is stamped on the inside seat of trousers, displaying the letters PD inside a circle with a crown sitting above. Her Majesty's Prison Service
