It fastens centre front with two buttons (show six) and has two large patch pockets at the hips. There is an angled welted pocket at the left breast and zig zag over stitching of the shoulder seams, centre back seam, and long vertical darts in the centre of each front panel. The cuff vents are open and button wth three black plastic buttons and buttonholes. The back of the jacket has a hanging loop o the outside. The turn down collar around the back of the neck is finished with a fine grey check wool and there is a bound buttonhole in the left side of the collar. It has four pockets on the front: two large patch pockets at the hips and above them a smaller jetted pocket.There is a hanging loop sewn to the outside centre back of the coat near the collar. It fastens centre front with two plastic buttons and has short vents (no buttons) in the cuffs. The main body of the coat is lined in black rayon and the sleeves are lined in white striped rayon. There is damage to the inside sleeve linings near the cuffs including cigarette burns and fraying - the coat has probably been worn with the sleeves rolled up. It has a high double breasted lapel which fastens to the neckline for protection and has reinforced shoulders and back yoke. It has six silver buttons embossed with 'NFS' on the front which are back stamped with 'Firmin London'. There are two button on the cuff strap which are decorative only. The right side attaches to an adjustable strap on the inside of the jacket with a popper fastening. The jacket is fully lined. There are no labels. There are two mesh welt edged pockets on the front of the jacket that are lined with self fabric and both sleeves have mesh welt edged slits at the elbow. The front body is lined with black mesh that is continued into the sleeves and features a single jetted pocket on the left side. The mesh lining finishes after the elbow slits on both sleeves and has extra padding around the front sleeve for the length of the slits. The back features a large mesh welt edged vent down the centre back that is lined with mesh and has a self fabric bound facing that runs into the top of both armholes into a curved T shape at the hem. The shirt is finished with white top stitching and features a placket that finishes half way down the shirt with three white mother of pearl buttons to close. Both the collar and white cotton faced collar stand have three white button holes ready for the attachment of collar to body. The back of the shirt has short two piece yoke with a centre box pleat below. The cuffs are wide with four button holes on each in the absence of two cufflinks per cuff. The detachable collar is short and curved and has been 'Trubenised' - the process of stiffening a collar without the use of starch. The shirt is 'sanforized shrunk' which was a pre-shrunk material guarantee (Sanforized was the American method, Rigmel was the British method).
