            Flying helmet made from a soft, light brown, chrome leather with a turned back peak. Helmet is shaped around the face, sitting just above the eyebrows and covering the ears. There is a chin strap with a metal buckle fastening and a single-popper flap over each ear to allow the wearing of communications equipment. The inside of the helmet is lined in a dark cream / light brown chamois fabric. Unknown

            Dark gold coloured silk velvet smoking cap with circular flat top. It has been hand embroidered in dark gold braid and threads in a pattern of five-pointed leaves which circle around the silk thread covered button in the centre of the top of the cap and around the cap edges. The button fastens a long fine braid tassel. The cap is lined in machine quilted brown silk in a pattern of horizontal lines.

            Black silk plush top hat with a wide black wool band around the crown. The lower part of the lining of the crown is a band of white leather embossed with 'English Manufacturers / CHRISTYS' LONDON / IMPERIAL QUALITY' with a crown and coat of arms. The top of the lining is in cream silk and the top of the inside of the crown is printed in black with: Imperial / CHRISTYS' LONDON / WILLIAM S.             Black silk plush bicorn hat with a fringe of black ostrich feathers around the top edges of both parts of the turned up brims. The silk plush has worn away across most of the sides of the exposed undersides of the brim but covers the crown and outside brims. Where the silk has deteriorated it exposes the body of the hat made of cardboard. One side of the folded up brim has a length of gold coloured metal thread woven tape with a large brass button embossed with the royal coat of arms over the top of a black silk ribbon rosette.

            The lining of the hat is striped black silk satin with a quilted hat band around the inside of the crown. The top of the inner crown has a coat of arms and makers name printed in gold lettering. Machine and hand stitched.

            Black silk grosgrain 'opera' top hat which is collapsable. It has a black grosgrain ribbon around the bottom of the crown and the inside of the crown is lined in white leather. The crown is held up by collapsable metal frame and springs, as well as four cream silk ribbons (three are broken). The inside top of the crown is lined in cream silk printed in black with a head in a Roman helmet over a shield with 'L' over 'LONDON. W.' Designer unknown

            Peaked cap made of bright red silk and lined in cream twill cotton with a large flat button covered in red silk at the top of the crown. It matches a jockey silks jacket in brown and red. The crown is made of six triangular shaped pieces with piped edges and around the bottom edge is a channel for a draw cord. The cord is made of red silk. The lining is heavily stained from wear and has a central patch which has been stamped in black ink with the makers label: a coat of arms over an oval with 'S.             White or cream cotton hood with neck cover and perforated lower face cover. It is made four sections, the back piece is one section and there is one long seam down each side and over the top of the head. The front is in three sections with an opening across the front at eye level. The top front part has an elasticated channel to fit over the forehead. There is a shaped section of perforated cotton to cover the nose, chin and lower part of the face which has an elasticated channel across the top. Label in the inside back. It has been treated to be Flame Retardant. Designer unknown
