General Post Office
Black flat cap with stiff plastic peak with black and white checkered band and adjustable polyurethane band across the plastic peak. Plastic stoppers are inserted on each side of the cap to secure the adjustable band. The cap is lined with a band of leather that is stitched in by hand, clear plastic film lines the top of cap protecting the main fabric. On the outer edge of the rim are two eyelets for ventilation and an adjustable chin strap.

Blue cotton cap with ear flaps and a neck flap at the back. The neck flap rolls up and fastens with two metal press studs. The cap has a machine embroidered badge on the front in yellow thread in the design of an eight pointed star shape surrounding a circle with 'SUIDAFRIKAANSE POLISIE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE' around a coat of arms. It has a stiffened peak which is sewn with four rows of stitching. The ear flaps each have a large eyelet bound with blue stitching. On the underside of the peak is a label with 'South African Police O/R's field cap' handwritten.

Academic mortarboard made from a horizontal square board which is covered in felt and fixed upon a skull-cap which is also made from reinforced felt which is ridged. The skull-cap comes down to a point at the front and is trimmed with grosgrain ribbon. On top of the board there is a tassel in the centre which is held in place by a shank button, covered in black fabric.
