              National Fire Service Fireman's Double Breasted Peacoat

              Black horsehide peacoat worn as part of a Second World War fireman's uniform. It has a high double breasted lapel which fastens to the neckline for protection and has reinforced shoulders and back yoke. It has six silver buttons embossed with 'NFS' on the front which are back stamped with 'Firmin London'. There are two button on the cuff strap which are decorative only. The right side attaches to an adjustable strap on the inside of the jacket with a popper fastening. The jacket is fully lined. There are no labels.

The trouser back has two pockets with flaps and buttons.

              London Fire Brigade Jacket

              Black jacket with high stand collar and hi-viz reflective strips. The jacket has a throat guard across the front neck of the collar and a wide placket covering the centre front fastening. It has a black plastic clip attachment sewn to the centre front chest and two velcro fastening loops on the front. The sleeves have additional inner cuffs made of black rib knit bands with thumb loops. Around the chest hem and the bottom of the sleeves are wide bands of yellow hi-vis with a centre stripe of silver reflective material. On the right chest and right arm printed in white are the letters L F B in squares over 'LONDON FIRE BRIGADE'. On the left sleeve is an angled flapped pocket with a printed badge emblem of the London Fire Brigade. The back of the jacket has two vertical strips of yellow hi-viz with silver reflective strips down each side and a stripe around the bottom hem.               Pair of dark olive green trouser liners (to be worn with over trousers 2016.146.1). They are made of a coated outer with a wool bonded inner layer. The liner is attached to the over trousers with press stud fastenings around the outside waistband and two at the trouser cuffs.

              Pair of trousers made of aluminized Kevlar with detachable quilted Nomex Aramid quilted liner. The outer trousers are silver in colour with two large gusseted patch pockets to each thigh. They fasten centre front with a Velcro fly and a metal carabiner clip at the waist band. They have Velcro tabs on each side of the waist for adjustment and eight gold-coloured stud buttons for braces around the top of the waist. The blue liner attaches to the outer trousers with press studs around the top of the waist and is quilted with white stitching.
