The sketch is of a man and a woman dressed in formal attire, possibly a depiction of Princess Lieven and Prince Metternich. Underneath the sketch is text reading "... and in Italy I was bored to tears with the buildings I saw and worried to death by those I didn't see." and "[Extracted from "Private Letter of Princess Lieven to Prince Metternich" Peter Quennell]".
