A Liberal Democrat politician, Huhne was narrowly beaten by Nick Clegg in the party's 2007 leadership contest. In 2010 Huhne became Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change as part of the coalition government. In 2012 he resigned from the cabinet, having been charged with perverting the course of justice. Following his conviction in 2013, Huhne also stepped down from parliament.

Memorial Fund set up following his death. It raised £1,325, £300 of which went towards a plaque on the Chiswick Stadium in his honour. He was instrumental in it being built.

Kenneth Cranston was born in Liverpool and played cricket for Lancashire until 1950. He was selected to play for England in 1947 and 1948. He served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and practised as a dentist until 1990.
