The first of two volumes studying the Gardens of Italy. It comprises 182 plates (mainly photographs), giving over 275 views of villas in the Roman countryside, Tuscany and Upper Italy. They are accompanied by 32 scaled plans or geometrical documents with an introduction and an explanatory text by Georges Gromort.
