The 5th of five volumes dedicated to the study of the Antiquities of Athens. It contains descriptive and critical text, accompanied by original etchings of drawings, scaled elevations, sections and plans of a series of buildings and architectural details. Subjects included: Temple of Jupiter Olympius at Agrigentum, commonly called the Temple of the Giants; View of the Propylaea and of a part of the present ascent to the Acropolis; Sepulchral Marbles and Ornaments; Plan of the Pnyx and the vicinity; Antiquities at Delos; Temple of Apollo Epicurius, at Bassae, near Phigalia; Other Antiquities in the Peloponnesus; Entrance Gate to the City of Messene; Subterraneous Chamber at Mycene, commonly called the Treasury of Atreus; The Form, Arrangement, and Construction of the Greek Theatre; Theatre in the Grove of Aesculapius, near Epidarurus; Theatre at Dramyssus near Joanna in Albania; Theatre of Syracuse; Various Fragments from Athens, Delphi, and Asia Minor; Pilaster Capitals from Stratonice and Halicarnassus; Fragments from Halicarnassus, Teos, and Temple of Apollo at Branchydae, near Miletus; Tombs at Carpuseli in Asia Minor; Temple of Theseus; Temple at Cadachio, in the Island of Corfu.
