Scope and content

Single breasted, black woollen jacket with a stand up collar. The jacket is front fastening via five domed, brass buttons with regimental insignia and the collar via a double hook and eye fastening. Two matching brass buttons are found on each cuff as well as a brass button on each of the shoulder straps. These straps also display three metal rank badges. On the front of the jacket are four large patch pockets, two on the chest and two at the waist. The two chest pockets have flaps and a brass button closure. A medal ribbon is located on the left side of the chest, above the patch pocket. Brass insignia are attached to the outside of the collar on either side of the opening. There is a 16cm vent at each of the side seams. To the reverse, there is a centre seam that runs the length of the reverse and then a seam on either side of this which curves out from the shoulder seam and runs vertically to the hem. The inside of the jacket is lined with a black satin fabric. The inside of the collar has five brass studs to enable a removable, stiff white collar to be attached [2022.36.20.2].
