The label started out as a market stall in Camden, London run by Marco Cairns, Eddie Prendergast, Barrie Sharp and Clifford Bowen selling military deadstock. In 1985 they opened their first shop in London's Portabello Road and began selling their own designs made in limited runs. In 1989 they moved to a store in D'Arblay Street, Soho importing stock from America such as Adidas Superstars, Red Wing Boots, Schott puffa jackets and New Era baseball caps. The early 1990s saw the company become more commercial after a majority share was sold to Dr. Thomas Hiedecker - the Duffer hoodie became their biggest seller. In 2004 they signed a licencing deal with Debenhams resulting in a loss of quality control, the label was then bought out of administration in 2008 by JD Sports.
