#BlackLivesMatter is a movement that originated in 2013 as a response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. It returned to national headlines in 2020 following the killing of George Floyd by a police officer. The 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in the United States were unprecedented historical events with millions of people taking part in them to demand criminal justice reform.
