范围和内容

Shown as part of Yip’s graduate collection from the BA Fashion Design course at the University of Westminster, this red wool military greatcoat draws references to military detail and decoration. The righthand side is covered in red and black rosettes reminiscent of military crosses and fastened using metal poppers, while the moire ribbon is from Toye, Kenning and Spencer, who supply regalia and insignia to the military and the Royal Family. The modular emblems are fastened using an eyelet-snap hybrid trim, which means they are interchangeable throughout all garments of the collection. It features moire ribbon epaulettes at the shoulders that attached with the same eyelet-snap trim used throughout. The back has a centre back seam at the waist with a flared skirt and features a wide moire ribbon band detachable with the eyelet-snaps. Made in the UK.

      说明

One of four garments held by the archive that formed two complete catwalk ensembles from Nicholas Yip’s graduate collection that was shown at the 2017 BA (Hons) Fashion Design graduate fashion show on 23 May 2017 at Ambika P3, University of Westminster, Marylebone.

One ensemble consisted of a red wool greatcoat, worn over black wool trousers with a red moire ribbon stripe, while the other ensemble consisted of a khaki green greatcoat with black moire ribbon decoration worn over a matching khaki green trouser with silver and black broad stripe.

      说明

The main fabric is an interiors furnishing fabric called Divina from Kvadrat. The surface is directionless and uniform like felt, but Divina is a woven fabric which is subjected to mechanical processing and high heat during the dyeing process, giving it high saturation and depth of colour. The moire ribbons are supplied by Toye, Kenning and Spencer, who supply regalia and insignia to the UK and countries abroad, as well as the Royal Family. The modular emblems are fastened using an eyelet-snap hybrid trim, which means they are interchangeable throughout all garments of the collection.
