Scope and content

Yellow leather all in one race suit with black double stripes along the sides and down the arms. It has the Lewis Leathers patch sewn onto the left hand side and a black zip diagonally inserted below on the left chest. It has a solid metal double ended zip down the centre front body and metal zips at the cuffs and at the bottom of the legs into the outer side seams. The cuffs are secured with velcro tabs. The neck has a leather tab that is secured with velcro. There are velcro panels sewn onto the shins for the attachment of knee sliders. It has knee patches and curved panelling on the sides and shoulder patches for extra protection, all of which have double top stitching.

      Established in 1892, Lewis Leathers initially catered for aviators and Royal Air Force officers but rapidly expanded into motorcycle clothing. Their jackets were adopted by the Rockers of the 1950s and 1960s. This model is Track Suit No. 429, which was their bestselling race suit during the 1970s. The style was worn by both Isle of Man TT race champions and speedway superstars.
