Administrative history

The Top Man label was established by the Burton Group in 1978 as a response to changes in menswear and men's consumption of fashion in the 1970s. It was created as the menswear equivalent of their women's wear Top Shop label. It was later rebranded as 'Topman'. After its owner Arcadia Group went into administration in 2020, the Topman brand was sold to online fashion retailer ASOS in February 2021.

Scope and content

This jacket is from Anthony Price's fourth collaboration with Topman in 2010. The jacket has military inspiration with button turn back panels on the centre front. Each is fastened with 6 military-style antique brass coat of arms buttons. The jacket is predominantly a wool blend with contrast pleather details. It has a mandarin style standing collar in pleather, with seamed pleather epaulette details, continuing over the sleeve head to replicate the look of the epaulette fringing. The sleeve cuff has a large pleather turn up. The jacket is lined with a priceless printed lining.
