Brown wool pinstripe single breasted tailored jacket. It has wide rounded collar and lapels and fastens with two buttons. It has two vents in the back and three pockets on the front, an angled welted breast pocket on the left chest and two flapped pockets at the waist. The cuffs have vents and two buttons. Lined in brown twill viscose. Factory label in the right inner breast pocket shows it was made to measure (probably part of a suit) in one of Burton's northern English factories. Label dated 4.11.73

Dark navy blue short jacket with peaked lapels, gold buttons and gold braid stripes around cuffs. The jacket has six button holes down each lapel and the front of the jacket. It has six gold coloured metal shank buttons embossed with the Royal Navy emblem of a fouled anchor under the St Edwards crown worn by Elizabeth II. There are also two separate buttons linked with a metal clip to secure the jacket. The buttons are back stamped with 'GIEVES'. On each lower sleeve are three bands of goldwork braid, the third band also has a loop - these are for the officer rank of Commander. The jacket is lined in black rayon (or silk?) sateen and has lines of quilting running vertically from the hem to the armhole on the back panels. The sleeves are lined in white twilled rayon (or silk?). There is a tailors label inside the right lower inside pocket.

Dark grey wool trousers (part of a suit of waistcoat and trousers) with five black plastic buttons for fly, two angled hip pockets and right rear buttoned pocket. The trousers have one pleat on each side of the fly to the waist. The waist band has belt loops and black plastic buttons on the inside waist for attaching braces. Pockets, waistband and fly lined with black synthetic material. Stamped inside 'BR78 / J8'

British Rail
Red wool facecloth short jacket with green wool facecloth long shawl collar, epaulettes and pointed cuffs. It has two goldwork embroidered badges sewn on to the middle of each collar with the emblem of the Green Howards and '1875'. On the right sleeve just above the green cuff point is a circular goldwork embroidered badge of the Royal Coat of Arms. There are four silver coloured metal buttons embossed with the Green Howards emblem on the right side below the collar and four sham buttonholes on the left side. Each cuff has two of the same buttons. It is lined in red rayon with lines of quilting radiating around the armholes and covering the inside front panel. The sleeves are lined in cream rayon satin. There is a pocket on the inside left lining which contains the tailors label with client and date.

Alkit
Bright blue vinyl short raincoat with white double seam stitching, hood and a grey striped lining. It has four patch pockets on the front, the top two have flaps which fasten with press studs, the bottom two have side openings. The lining is pale grey with fine horizontal stripes of blue, purple, white and red. The hood has a drawstring and plastic toggles.
