Formerly the VCSMG (Vice Chancellor's Senior Management Group).
VCEG was discontinued in September 2008, and was reconfigured as the University Executive Board (UEB).

Terms of Reference: To develop and review the University's Strategic Plan; To consider and agree policies directed towards the implementation of the Strategic Plan; To consider the plans prepared by campuses and all corporate services departments; To advise on the preparation of the annual revenue budget and on the equitability of budget allocations, for approval by Finance and Property Committee and Court; To advise and decide on the planning and allocation of resources to campuses and departments; To consider periodic reports on progress against budget; To agree tuition fees for approval by Finance and Property Committee and Court; To consider responses to consultation documents, such as those from HEFCE and QAA, as appropriate; To review issues, both internal and external, facing the University and provide advice to the Vice- Chancellor on operational and strategic matters; To refer issues to other committees, groups or individuals, as appropriate, or constitute ad hoc groups for specific tasks, and receive reports and approve recommendations from these groups.
