Item STU/1/15 - Will and probate for John Edward Kynaston Studd

Photocopy Proof of Probate dated 7 June 1944; Will dated 27 Jan 1939 with two codicils, dated 2 March 1939 and 29 November 1941.
Executors are sons Eric Studd, Ronald Granville Studd and Bernard Cyril Studd, each being given £200.
All the family portraits are given to his eldest surviving son.

The diamond maltese cross pendant which was inherited by his mother is to be enjoyed by his wife, Alexandra Lievem during her lifetime, then given to his eldest son, and at his death, to his eldest son.
Specified chattels are bequeathed to his wife.
One year's wages is to be given to each servant - Mary Ralls, Edith Lec and Florence Pearce; and the sum of £400 to secretary Dorothy Egerton.
Leasehold house, No. 67 Harley Street, to be given for the use of his wife, then to his sons in order of seniority to reside there.

To sons Eric and Bernard are to be given equal shares in all interest and shares in propoerties situated in Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland and Penzance, and shares in the Railway, Steamship and other Commissions and Agencies in connection with the Polytechnic Touring Association Ltd., and also his shares in the said PTA - to pay out an annual income of £1,500 to his wife. After her death, all capital and income shall be divided equally between Eric and Bernard.

From his residuary estate - a payment of £1,500 p.a. to his wife and a trust fund for son Ronald Granville Studd and daughter Vera Studd in equal shares.

Codicil dated 2 March 1939 adds that his children, in order of seniority may select three of his personal chattels for his/her own use. Witnessed by Accountant and Cashier of the Polytechnic.

Typed Codicil dated 29 November 1941 adds that Barclays Bank is now appointed as Executor and his wife will now receive £800 p.a. rather than the original £1,500.
