        History

Founded in 1837 Sidney Sussex Boat Club is the rowing club for members of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. The coat of arms consist of: A bend engrailed sable (a reverse scalloped edge diagonal line) which represents the Radcliffe founding house, and a pheon azure (a broad arrow) representing the Sidney house. Above this is a gold crown. The coat of arms is supported on the right by a porcupine, and the left by an as yet unidentified animal. Underneath is the Latin motto "Dieu me garde de calomnie" which translates to "God preserve me from calumny!". In an arc above are the letters S.S.C.S.C
