High waisted shorts in a khaki coloured cotton fabric. Shorts are front fastening via a button fly which contains five grey, plastic buttons on a concealed button placket. The left side of the waistband has an extended tab with a hook at the end that fastens onto a loop on the right side of the waistband. An additional, concealed grey, plastic button can be found on the reverse of the left side of the waistband and fastens through a button hole on the right. Adjustable tabs can be found at either side of the waistband and can be tightened for added security. On either side of the fly are two 20cm pleats that run vertically from the base of the waistband. At the waist, are two, vertical, in seam pockets. On the reverse of the shorts is a single jetted pocket. There is a button on the inside of the pocket that fastens through a button hole which sits just below the lower edge of the pocket. At the back, halfway between the centre and side seams on each side, there is a 13cm dart which runs vertically from the base of the waistband.
British Army
Shorts in a hard wearing cream / light brown cotton fabric. Shorts are front fastening via a button fly comprising of four metal stud buttons. At the waist, there are five belt loops on the waistband so a belt can be worn. Vertical, in seam pockets are found at waist level on each of the side seams. At the back, there are no back pockets. There is a shaped seam that runs from each side seam to a v shaped point which sits behind the belt loop at the centre of the waistband at the back of the shorts. The bottom of the right leg of the shorts has been cut off and is frayed. The crotch of the shorts have been repaired, with stitching visible.
