Colour drawing of the view from a balcony room at the Polytechnic chalets, Lucerne. The view shows the gardens, lake with steamer and both Mount Pilatus and the Stanserhorn in the distance.

Postmarked 20/2/1909. Used. Inscribed on reverse: 'Lucerne 19/9/[03?]. Dear Mr & Mrs G. I have had word that the wedding was a lovely success. I am so sorry to have missed it. What a glorious day you had for it. I have had a great time so far. 21 hours after leaving London I was at the top of 'Pilatus' the high mountain on the right of this picture (by mountain railway of course). It was a magnificent view. Yesterday I had 11 hours motoring through the forest scenery in Switzerland. Love to all [illegible]'. Addressed to Mr & Mrs Godfrey, 9 Hillcrest Rd, Purley, Surrey England.
