Annotated: 'Tuesday 1/45 pm. Dearest [all], Writing this on the shore of Lake Lucerne just in front of the Chalets which is their private property. Words cannot describe the beauty of the place! it really beggars description. Arrived here about 11:30 after a somewhat tiring train journey 15 1/2 hrs from Calaise [sic]. The engine broke down and we were delayed 1 1/2 hrs. But really its worth all of it. Ma is resting after a marvellous lunch. Kind regards to others, Pa.'
