The handbook is divided into three sections:

Section 1 covers the structure and purpose of the Union and includes messages from Sir Eric Richardson and Professor Colin Adamson, past President and current President [photograph]; a history of the merger between Regent Street Polytechnic and Holborn, with details of recent and planned building works including the proposed demolition of the Regent Street building; election of course secretaries; academic structure and course committees; list of student representatives in college government; members of the Union council [photograph]; welfare; birth control; The Chaplain, [photograph]; Societies Administrative Working Party; Ents Committee; Discotheques; The Second Polytechnic festival (including draft programme).

Section 2 covers societies, info and sport. There are short descriptions of the following clubs and societies: Afro-Asian Soc, Architectural Soc, Bridge Club, BUNAC, Car Club, Christian Union, Communication Soc, Communist Soc, Debating Soc, Economic History Soc, Economics Soc, Film Club, Geography Soc, Hall of residence Committee, Jewish Soc, Ghanaian Soc, Law Soc, Music Soc, Newton Soc, Nigerian Soc, Political Science, PCS, Polyfolk, Polymer, McGarel, Revolutionary Socialist Students Federation, Social Science Soc, Socialist Soc, Surveyors Soc, Student Players, West Indian Soc. There is also a report, re-printed from the Architects Journals 28 Jan 1970, with full details of the 'tripthelightfantastic' experience organised by Architecture students [redacted] as part of the first Poly Arts festival including technical specifications, problems and performances. The Info section includes maps or the Polytechnic buildings. Sport gives short descriptions with some photographs of the following clubs: Athletics, badminton, basketball, billiards, boat, boxing, cricket, cross-country, fencing, football, gliding, golf, hockey, netball, judo, lawn tennis, modern dance, mountaineering, polysail, rifle club, rugby, sky diving, squash, sub-aqua, table tennis, ten pin bowling, trampolining, volleyball, water skiing, weight training.

Section 3 covers general information including: union amenities (with a plan of Elsley Court), the Polytechnic magazine, bookstalls, lockers, notice boards, telephones, letters,legal problems, local cafe recommendations, local pubs, libraries (including the name of the Librarian and the opening hours), Union secretaries, staff and students club, Union meeting dates, jobs and entertainment, west end theatres and cinemas, useful listings such as locksmiths and record shops, art galleries, bookshops, London nightlife, all-night London.

At the reverse is a section of photographs from the first Poly Arts festival including the Miss Poly Dolly contest judged by Jimmy Saville, performances by the Strawbs and Derek Brimstone, the Roundhouse event and the Tripthelightfantastic show. The magazine is illustrated throughout with cartoons and includes many short poems; there are also advertisements for recruiters and banks.
