        历史

Donald Naylor was born in Bramley, Leeds and lived in Calverley, Leeds. His father died during the Second World War and his mother was left to bring up five children on her own. Donald left school and went to work to help support his family. He worked for Hepworths as a lorry driver between 1950-1955 and 1960-1983. He also did some work as a mechanic in the yard. He was based at the Clay Pitt Lane site - Hepworths head office - in Leeds but drove across the country delivering and collecting goods from the factories and stores. His CB handle was ‘Coat Hanger’.

When he worked for Hepworths all of his uniforms were made for him. He was also able to buy seconds very cheaply (there was an office at the back of the yard at Clay Pitt Lane where staff could purchase the seconds and factory rejects). Some of these he bought to wear but many of them he then sold on or swapped as a way of generating extra income.
