        History

The first mention of the Men’s Basketball Society was through a notice in the McGarel in October 1974, which gave details of the society’s training on Wednesday’s 3-5pm at the Main Gym in Regent Street campus. The society participated in regular league matches, and were winners of their division in the academic year of 1973/74. In 1975, students had training on Wednesdays at 4pm-5pm at the Regent Street Gym. On Thursdays they trained at 7pm-9pm at Swiss Cottage.

In 1980, the first team in the society played in the Premier Division of the London League, whilst the second team played in the First Division of the Metropolitan London League. In October of that year, the team was entered into the B.P.S.A K.O. Cup. In March 1981, the second team played in the finals of the B.P.S.A cup losing against Ulster.
