Megson joined Westminster in January 2009 as Dean of School of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, becoming Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange on 1 January 2013. On 19 August 2015 he was appointed as the V-C's 'number 2', as Provost, retaining responsibility for research, enterprise and innovation. From 9 November 2017 he was Acting Vice-Chancellor, returning to the post of Provost on the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor on 1 May 2018. Megson remained in this role until 9 August 2018.
