London Fashion Week

The first London Fashion Week (LFW) was staged in October 1983 and was organised by the British Fashion Council, which was formed in January 1983. LFW is a twice-yearly trade event that takes place in February and September and attracts a large international audience of invited press and buyers. It predominately showcases womenswear through runway presentations but has also featured menswear throughout its history, most often showing it alongside a designer’s womenswear collection.

In September 2009, the last day of the LFW schedule became a designated day for designers to show menswear collections. This initiative continued for six seasons until June 2012 when the BFC launched the inaugural London Collections Men (LCM), which was staged twice-yearly, in January and June. This standalone menswear event ran over three days and featured over 45 runway shows and presentations. In January 2017, after ten seasons, LCM was renamed London Fashion Week Mens.
