File containing start cards, results, route maps, regulations and programmes for the Gayler Memorial Trophy - a 12 hour unpaced Road Race organised by the Polytechnic Cycling Club. The trophy is a perpetual Gold Cup, instituted as a memorial to Bert Gayler, a great 12 hour rider and club official and 16 other Poly boys who fell in the Great War of 1914-918.

Named after Herbert Henry GAYLER, Secretary of the PCC and leading competitor who was killed in India during World War I. The gold cup was purchased by Polytechnic subscription as a memorial to all Club members who died in the War. It was awarded to the winner of a 12 hour open race on the North Road. First awarded to M G S SELBACH in 1919. Last recipient was J E MARSHALL in 1969. See Polytechnic Cycling Club Gazette July 1919.
