A Yong Pioneer holds up a banner reading '5 emphasises, 4 beauties' (五讲四美). This was a policy introduced in 1981 to promote education and public activism. The Five emphasises refer to civity, politeness, hygiene, order and morality. The Four Beauties refer to the beauty of the spirit, the language, behaviour and the environment. In 1983 3 loves were added which were love for the motherland, socialism and the Communist Party. The poster shows a series of images of groups of children demonstrating good behaviour.
